Movie Review: Your Name

To be honest, I used to be a sceptic of anime, but I appreciate beautiful things, and even though I do agree anime can be aesthetically pleasing, their movies never appealed much to me. Firstly, because I don't like japanese language, I just don't like the sound of it. Secondly, I don't like the lack of diversity and the perfection that seem to be portrayed in anime. Understandibly, it's their uniqueness and very much culture related, but if it bothers me, I am allowed to not love it.


Anyways, I am one who's willing to try out new things, and my friends have talked about it enough that I'm intrigued. Unexpectedly, about 15 minutes into the movie, regret has already caught up with me for not watching this sooner. What do I love most about the movie? The storyline and of course the artistic pleasure. I've watched the trailer and thought I had an inkling of what the movie was about but I was set for a surprise, and I enjoyed the surprise very much. 


The movie has enchanted me with their cinematics. I love every frame, every scene, barely restraining myself from pausing every now and then during the movie to marvel at the illustrations. I wish I could meet the creators, to personally thank them for sharing their talent with the world. The movie is perfect for someone obssesed with the sky like me. The time-lapse of the sky, the landscapes and the comet were so beautiful, I wanted to crawl through the screen, to get a better vantage point.


I love the cute teenage romance although it's more cute to me than touching. When I briefly glanced through the negative comments about the movie, they're mainly pointing out how their love is immature and unrealistic because they don't actually know each other. Eh hello, there is supernatural involved, so don't measure the romance with reality or your scepticism of fate. And believe it or not, there are people who are blessed with epic and illogically romantic love stories. Be a sport, enjoy the art and the fantasy given. Stop begging for the sad reality from something meant to entertain.


Watching Your Name allows one to indulge in a world where everything is so beautiful your heart aches and a romance so pure yet epic you wonder whether you can ever accept anything less in love ever again.

Now my to-do list post-pandemic includes buying a red ribbon and giving it to a random hot guy on the train.

Embarking on an adventure of self acceptance, self love, self improvement and soul searching. I wish to share it, the ups and downs. Perhaps I could inspire someone to finally start their overdue pilgrimage, or to be a friend to someone who is on the same hike. Movie Review: Marriage Story

(Pinterest) A love story about divorce. Some scenes were very hard for me to watch or understand. I wanted to yell and judge both of them but the single and self-consciously naive me would shush me. The divorce in this movie is certainly complex, or are all divorces this way? I thought it was just a final showdown for two people who hate each other leaving a mess for the children. I did not expect divorce could be a narrative of romance. Charlie and Nicole clearly love each other very much. I really do blame the lawyers. I really hated the lawyers. They keep pushing them to hate each other and assume the worst of the other. They 'advise' them to make deadly strikes when they say they don't want to. I hated Nicole at some point. Why does she have to get a lawyer? They decided to end their marriage without one and nothing changed that such a need arose. The court room scene was the hardest thing for me to watch. Dreaming About My Future Life

I find my mind drifting to the future recently. Imagining the days I would have, the life that I wish I would lead. It's so fun decorating the house I have in my mind. It's like playing sims social or cafe story (My knowledge of games is limited). I would probably still stay here in my little town. I love my little town. The other place I might consider moving to is Ipoh, no explainable reasons. Maybe it's the rumours of good food or the excellent people I know who come from Ipoh. I actually love the current house I'm staying. My room is the best place in the world. But if my parents want to sell it and move back to their hometown, and my sisters are married, I'd want a small little apartment.
