When Good Things End: Modern Family

I've finished 11 seasons of Modern Family. What am I supposed to do with my life now?

*SOBS

Modern Family tells the story of 3 extended family. Jay and his young wife, Gloria with her son, Manny. Claire and her husband, Phill with their three children, Hailey, Alex and Luke. Mitch and Cam with their adopted daughter, Lily. Mitch and Claire are Jay's children.

I don't get obssessed with TV series and I have the bad habit of skipping or increasing playback speed when I watch something, but this is the only one show that I savoured every single second and paused when I'm getting food. As per the title of the show, it shows an unconventional family set up. Gays, age-gap and young parents.

The best thing I love about this show is their relationship. They have a family bond that I'm very envious of and they are the depiction of the American Dream. Although they can be chaotic at times, arguing and trying to avoid family gatherings, they still love each other and at the end of every episode, there is always wisdom imparted on family values. I love that they are so cheesy together and show appreciation towards one another unlike Asian families. They hug so much, they gather during weekends and go to the bar with their Aunts. They show that life is hard sometimes and everyone goes through something, even the seemingly most perfect one like Alex in the show, but having a family that loves you makes life so much easier to get through. I cried and laughed a lot watching this series. It brightens up even the gloomiest of days and makes life a little better.

Things change and there is an end to everything. I've been putting off watching the last season for a long time, and as expected, after the last episode with everyone heading off to new adventures separately, I'm left feeling very empty and lost. I've grown so attached to each character that they are like family to me. My favourite person is Phill Dunphy. He's such a ray of sunshine.

I'm still going to rewatch this show once in a while. This sitcom is the best I've ever watched with moral values that allign with mine. I enjoyed 'How I Met You Mother' and 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S' with their American slangs and sex jokes, in the frustrating quest towards their happily ever after in the city, but at the end of the day, I crave stability and the warmth of family in the suburbs, filled with laughter and love.

It's always sad when something good ends, isn't it?

Ahhh going through the photos and jokes makes my heart ache!

Their relationships are so healthy. Both of my parents are realists, well that explains a lot.

To see Jay opening up and slowly change from the traditional white man thinking since season 1, seeing how Gloria makes him a better person is so touching.

Lily is so adorably evil
